If you didn’t know, now you know. Dallas is a big fit city.
In my never ending journey to explore the health and wellness of each city I visit, I wanted to explore Dallas with just that in mind. It’s a short 3 hour drive from Austin, and a major city to fly into. For those looking to enjoy the healthier side of Dallas my favorite place to start is at The Westin Dallas Downtown.
I’m not a stranger to Westin hotels, in fact, I prefer to stay at them when I travel because of their emphasis on health and wellness. From a revamped menu with an emphasis on clean eating, to partnerships with TRX and Peloton, and not to mention their clothing/running shoe rental program with New Balance. The Westin Hotels is seriously committing to your health and wellness from the moment you hit their properties.
And I love that when I choose to stay at one, I am getting the best environment to help me maintainn my fitness goals, which is extra important for me when I’m on the road.
The hotel is located central to downtown, making it the perfect jumping off point for anything you might want to do in Dallas. We drove in from Austin, so we took advantage of the valet parking. We ended up using our car a lot just because Dallas is so spread out, so whether you’re driving in, renting, or Uber-ing, there is plenty of parking and the hotel does offer valet. But the hotel was also so central Downtown and great to walk to some of the bars and restaurants I mentioned in my recent guide. Also, it’s a quick walk to The Eye, a famous sculpture plus fancy shops in the area like Luxe NYC Fragrance brand Le Labo, and TenOverSix, which is a great boutique in nearby hotel The Joule.
Back at The Westin, you’ll find amenities to help you kick back and relax. Start by putting on the robe you’ll find in your armour. Definitely put it on as soon as you get back to the hotel. Wear it when you check out the stunning and beautiful indoor heated pool overlooking the Dallas skyline. A fully decked out fitness studio sits on the same floor with sweeping views of the city.
Once you’ve worked up an appetite, on the menu for room service you’ll find staples like pancakes and burgers, but also be on the lookout for all Westin menu’s now feature superfoods and other healthy options like egg white omelettes, plus almond milk smoothies (making this dairy free girl happy!) I love that they already have these modifications in mind because it’s one less thing I have to think about when I’m on the road.
It was a truly great spot to call home for a little weekend staycation. It felt like home quite literally as well as mentally. We were set up in a corner suite with the most breathtaking views of Dallas. I’ve never seen Dallas from that perspective, and is probably what won Dallas over for me in my heart. This is a really special city and they truly know how to work hard and play harder.
I grew up going to Dallas as a kid just growing up in Austin, but this trip something changed, I saw Dallas through new eyes, and it was electric. The city literally lights up at night, more so than I’ve ever noticed in any other city i’ve visited to. And our room, with her panoramic views, displayed the light show in the most special way possible. We would be sitting in the room with the windows just wide open watching the sun set and the landscape changing colors. It’s the type of disconnection you ache for when you stay at a hotel but very rarely find.
Westin Downtown Dallas was that gem for me; it was comfortable, friendly, approachable, never pretentious or overly eager. Just happy to see you when you got home, and ready for you with whatever you need for bracing the outside world.
My hope is when you travel, you choose Westin and when you visit Dallas you’ll visit the Westin Downtown Dallas. Because you deserve to maintain wellness wherever you are.
