We are SPOILED in Austin! We have a handful of the Texas Monthly’s Top 50 BBQ spots in the state right here in the capital city and one of them is making the 512 proud by stuffing their famous bbq into another quintessential Austin favorite– the taco!
Valentina’s Tex Mex is South Austin, which is a bit of a trek for this North Austinite. But when the tortillas are as good as theirs, you make time to pay homage to one of the best meals you’ll have in this town.
Pro tip: If you want their famous brisket breakfast taco “The Real Deal Holyfield” then you better plan your timing to get there in time to make it to the window by 11am sharp. They’ll transition from breakfast to lunch on the dot (so in our case we happened to get there at 10:45 and because of the wait of the line, we didn’t make it to the window to order until 11:10 so we had to order the lunch menu– still delicious but I kinda had my heart on one of those brisket breakfast tacos– but that can wait for next time.
Their menu offers Texas favorites like brisket and pulled pork sandwiches while their Mexican side of the menu offers those tasty tacos I was mentioning earlier. So we went for the tacos– because again, you gotta try their tortillas!
After an order of two pollo tacos, two brisket tacos, and two pork ribs we were stuffed. And clearly you can see how mouthwatering everything was, so of course you now have to go. Add it to your list:
