Torchys Tacos -slinging some of the best tacos in town.
Torchys Tacos is Austin’s home for Damn Good Taco’s. Since 2006 owner and taco creator Mike Rypka has been spreading taco love through great quality, inexpensive, and freshly prepared items.
What once began as a trailer slinging some of the best tacos in Austin, now has 13 locations all over Austin, Round Rock and even San Marcos.
One of my favorite things about Torchy’s is how consistent their quality of food is. No matter where I decide to get my Torchy’s fix I always know I’m going to get one of the most excellent meals ever.
Torchy’s is also great for pick up, to go, group orders, catering, and especially dining in– when the tacos are THE most fresh!
This is one of the most special food menus in all of the land, with tacos called The Democrat or The Republican you can get political. Or if you’re like me you’ll dive right into favorites like The Green Chile Pork made with Slow Roasted pork carnitas simmered with green chiles and topped with queso fresco, cilantro, onions, & a wedge of lime or the Trailer Park made with fried chicken, green chiles, lettuce, pico de gallo and cheese on a flour tortilla with poblano sauce.
And just as colorful as their tacos are, their branding is bleeding with attitude with the taco shops famous “Damn” plastered throughout the decor. It makes me really fall in love with Torchys all over again because of how authentic they are with their tacos and their atmosphere.
Plated are two of their tacos, one of which I get all the time (Every time) and the other which I was trying to be a little adventurous for you all. The favorite of mine is the Trailer Park taco which I mentioned above, the trick is to get it trashy (which means they put queso on it). The other is the Mr. Pink which is seared ahi tuna, cabbage fresca, cilantro and queso fresco with a wedge of lime and chipotle sauce.
Thumbs up from me on both of the taco choices!
Little Nookies, you must absolutely order these next time you visit Torchys. We’re talking deep fried chocolate chip cookie dough pieces with powdered sugar and maraschino cherries. And if you order them in they are freshly fried so when you open it up the cookie dough is still molten on the inside (See image below)!
