The Peached Tortilla – Southern comfort food with an Asian flare.
What started out as an Austin food truck has grown up and opened a brick and mortar off Burnet Road. The Peached Tortilla has opened up shop offering both favorites from the trailer and all new menu items you can’t get anywhere but this location.
The Peached Tortilla’s menu is based on simple Southern comfort food with an Asian flare. First arriving on the Austin food scene in 2012, this Austin favorite is quickly growing up into a must stop for anyone wanting to dine with the best in Austin.
Their restaurant is 2,500 space of pure bliss, they have a quaint little patio that will soon be opening up once the nice spring weather officially hits. Inside the color decor uses bright yellows and oranges to make everything feel very vibrant.
If you need more parking, park at Karavel shoes across the street. Also right next door is one of my favorite Austin boutique stores, A-Town, which is a definite “must visit” if you’re going to head to The Peached Tortilla.
The Peached Tortilla is perfect for a girls lunch, Sunday Brunch, or date night.
They even offer a full bar to mix up whatever drink you want to pair with your meal.
The items on the menu that are from the truck (which you can’t go wrong with, but if you’ve had the truck try something new!) are the “Street to table” items. The tacos and JapaJam burgers are favorites but what is new about The Peached Tortilla brick & mortar are their plates, and shareables.
Some of the things on the menu we didn’t try but I would like to get next time are the “Banchan” Pickles, The Crispy Umami Chicken Wings, The Hainan Chicken, oh the list could go on. So if you see something that piques your interest, go for it. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed by The Peached Tortilla.
We started off the meal with the brussel sprouts, made with bacon jam, parmesan, lemon oil.
Ordered one of each of their tacos, banh mi taco vietnamese braised pork belly, pickled daikon carrot, sriracha mayo, cilantro, bbq brisket taco dry rubbed brisket, creamy apple slaw, smoky roasted peach bbq sauce, crunchy fish taco southern encrusted whitefish, creamy apple slaw, chili aioli, purple cabbage.
But the main star of the night was the Southern Fun, made with braised brisket, kale, bean sprouts, wide rice noodles. It was a spicy, savory dish that I could not put down. I ate the whole thing (and it is definitely shareable). I can’t wait to go back and eat that again, and I think if you ordered it you would enjoy it just as much!
