Svantes -grass fed beef straight from the family ranch.

I am a burger fanatic, and the newly opened Svantes in downtown Round Rock is living up to my burger fantasies. With a newly opened brick and mortar off Main Street, you can now get Svante’s burgers 7 days a week in Round Rock.

I  heard about Svante’s when they originally hit the Austin scene with a food truck that offered stuffed burgers. I had never actually made it over to the trailer, but then I heard they opened up a full menu restaurant in Round Rock. I thought it would be a fun place to take some friends for a night out. We live in between Round Rock(a rock) and Austin(a hard place) and so we like to venture into Round Rock for dining options because it is closer for us!  *Plus downtown Round Rock is not only very historic, but has a quaint feeling with beautiful Christmas lights strung up along the towns main street.

Svantes Ranch Direct provides good quality meat and grass fed beef, sourced directly from their family ranch that has been around since 1882 in the West Texas prairies. They have a long history in Austin which can be found and read about here, and sheds some light on the backstory for this new restaurant.

All the meat they provide comes directly from one of the remaining Swenson ranches which was the original Svante’s settlement from Sweden to America. Ultimately settling in the Austin are over 130 years ago this family has Texas roots which makes eating there just that much more special.

Burgers are the restaurant’s staple items offering burgers like the ‘Texas Pride’ made with smoked cheddar, jalapeño, pickles, onions & a house BBQ sauce or the Bevo Black & Bleu burger topped with sautéed mushrooms, chipotle aioli & cheese. You can get them Paleo (without the bun), Palm size (1/4lb), or Magnus size (1/2lb) which gives you the option of stuffing the burger with yumminess.

The Swedish influence lends itself to the menu with items like Swedish meatballs, house-made beef broth shots, and Swedish beef stew.  We had the beef broth shots, and it was a novel idea that I can see being a big hit. Bone broth is meant to have healing properties that help strengthen your bones… but whether or not that’s true is still up for debate. So until then, why not drink broth?

And because I love a good sweet to end a meal, for dessert we ordered a Fika, which is a Swedish tradition of coffee and treats. We had espresso macarons and some ginger snap cookies which were quite tasty.  They also feature a full bar and a selection of Texas craft beers and wine from around the world.

Svante’s is welcoming, with good food, and great service. We left happy and full. And with so many amazing menu choices, I’m already planning what I’ll get when I go back!

When you go, tell them Dine With Shayda sent you!
