Who: The Soup Peddler
When: Hours vary by location
Where: Airport – 4631 Airport Blvd. 78751, Mary – 501 W. Mary St. 78704, Lamar – 2801 S. Lamar Blvd. 78704, and 183 – 13219 Hwy. 183 N. 78750
What: Real food and Juice Bar
Why: The Soup Peddler is aptly named after its founder David Ansel. In 2002 Ansel began delivering soup in South Austin to his neighbors by bicycle, becoming The Soup Peddler. In 2010, he opened his first brick and mortar store and expanded the menu to include smoothies, fresh juices, and pressed sandwiches.
With 4 locations all around town, there is bound to be a Soup Peddler nearby. It’s the perfect stop for a delicious protein smoothie after a workout. They have fresh fruit and veggie juices, juice shots, and just about enough combinations that you can find a concoction that suits your needs.
If you’re more in the mood for a lunch or afternoon snack you can grab one of their tasty pressed sandwiches. Go savory so you can dip it in one of their signature soups, which rotate weekly so check their online schedule for each locations menu. My favorite is ordering the basil, pesto, and provolone sandwich with a side of their tomato basil soup for dipping! Another delicious sandwich choice would be to go a little sweet and order the green apple and muenster.
There is nothing I love more than a quick meal that is good for you and at The Soup Peddler that’s exactly what I’m getting. Plus it’s always made fresh to order!
