Sno -the ice was very fine and snow like, hence the name!
Snow cones are one of my favorite treats, and I will admit sometimes I crave them in the winter! I have a favorite snow cone stand, Kawaii Ice in Round Rock, Texas, and Sno in the North Dallas neighborhood is now a serious contender for one of the best I have ever had.
Sno isn’t in a typical snow cone stand location. It isn’t in a hip trendy food trailer lot, it isn’t across the street from a park, but rather it is in a shopping strip located about 9 miles north of Downtown Dallas. It was worth the drive, trust me!
Walking in, the interior was unassuming. A few round tables and chairs, some fading decals on the wall, and a big counter with a bunch of snow cone syrups and a very outgoing girl manning the snow machine.
With an array of flavors to choose from, I went with my tried and true favorite combination- Tigers Blood and Bahama Mama. Tigers blood is a mixture of Watermelon, Strawberry and a hint of coconut. Depending which snow cone stand you go to, the hint of Coconut can be stronger or weaker. The Bahama Mama is a sour piña colada taste and paired with the Tigers Blood it’s a match made in heaven.
The prices were also really reasonable! I always find a hard time to justify the $3+ price some snow cone trailers and even chain’s like Bahama Bucks charge for smalls. It’s syrup and ice!
I was in luck! The flavors were very close to how Kawaii Ice does them so they had that going for them, and the ice was very fine and snow like- hence the name! But not all snow cones are made equal so I always like to trial and error with the same flavor combination so I can keep track of how close or far it is from my gold standard, and I would say this one was a close second (so far!) to my favorite. When in Dallas, this is one of the best! Pair it with a drive through White Rock Lake where you can sit on a pier overlooking the water, eat your snow cone and stair at the skyline and the seagulls fighting over fish.
If you go, please tell them Dine With Shayda sent you! And let me know what was your favorite flavor @dinewithshayda.
