Silo on Seventh – Austin, Texas

Silo on Seventh -a gourmet burger and craft beer bar.

I always drove by Silo on Seventh and I always told myself I’m gonna go check it out. Well I finally did with a group of friends for an informal but inaugural “Dine With Shayda” meet up. (The idea is that we will go once a month, to start, and try a new restaurant and do it as some sort of meet up– so stay tuned for the next one, you should come!).

Silo on Seventh - Austin, Texas

Silo on Seventh is a gourmet burger and craft beer bar with a beautiful double deck patio overlooking seventh and an intimate but spacious interior. It was a cool late night spot with friends to grab some tasty bar food and some beers.

They have a beautiful patio to sit out on during hot summer days, they are open late, they even serve brunch, basically there are plenty of ways to get yourself on over to Silo.

They had a nice vibe about the restaurant and attentive and friendly wait staff. A birthday celebration had taken over most of the interior which was helpful to know that they can totally accommodate big parties, and that these people must really love Silo! I wanted to know what all the buzz was about.

Peeking around the corner were quaint seating overlooking the vibrant east seventh, it’s a really cool spot to watch the night life unfold.

Because we were dining with a group (4 of us total) we agreed to try a bunch of stuff off their tasty looking menu. We ordered pulled pork quesadillas, chips and queso, but the real treat of the night were the fried green tomatillos with jalapeno ranch dipping sauce!

All the apps were outstanding with great flavor profiles, but it was the mixture of the spicy jalapeno ranch to the fried green tomatillo that really lit up our pallets. We fell in love and knew we were in for a tasty meal.

Because they call themselves a gourmet burger bar, I knew I had to pick one. But it was so hard with options like The Silo made with Braveheart Black Angus Beef, american, lettuce, tomato, red onion, stella’s relish, mayo and mustard or what about The Navasota, made with ground pork, muenster, grilled avocado, tomatillo, cilantro, serrano, chipotle in adobo sauce, and mayo.

How is a girl to choose?

Oh, and those sides, fries, tater tots, sweet potato fries, or SWEET POTATO TOTS!

By picking the best of both worlds!

I ordered The Medina which should have been a house made black bean burger but I substituted for their Bravehart black angus beef (Because I love a good beef burger!) and then topped with red onion, tomato, arugula, avocado and jalapeno mayo. And sweet potato fries on the side of course!

Since it was a meet up we did agree to sample each others foods, my friend ordered the pulled bbq chicken tacos made with queso fresco, cilantro, onion and salsa. He of course added in their french fries so we could share! It was all so good and great sized portions also! Perfect place for sharing with friends.

When It was all said and done we were full, happy, and eager to tell our friends about this gem. So I’m telling you, all my friends, Silo is a dive that can’t be missed. And you can’t really with the large Silo with a “7” on the front of it outside of the restaurant.
