Ruthies Rolling Cafe -a mecca of grilled cheese goodness.
Ruthies Rolling Cafe is a mecca of grilled cheesy goodness on wheels. We discovered Ruthie’s because it was one of the featured Food Trucks at the Klyde Warren Park. Which is located right across the street from the Dallas Museum of Art (Which is always free to the public!). And that was our next stop after just having left the Perot Museum. We walked from the Perot over to the park and along the bank of food trucks to find Ruthies.
We were in the mood for a grilled cheese and had some a bit of research with Zagat pointing this was one of the food trucks to chase, we felt we couldn’t go wrong. Plus there was a long line in front so we thought this couldn’t be bad!
With items on the menu like a good old fashioned ham and swiss on sourdough (called Ham & I), and The Extra Cheesy Classic, which was a combination of a bunch of cheeses like swiss, cheddar, mozzarella, and pepper jack cheese we were eager to try this place out.
I ended up ordering The Boss which was BBQ brisket and sharp cheddar cheese on a sourdough bun and Billy ordered the Extra Cheesy Classic + two tomato soup shooters. We took our meals to the park and enjoyed it while the sun began to poke out from behind the clouds. The park had a happy atmosphere and a beautiful view of the city, it was a cute place to enjoy an afternoon lunch.
Everything about it was perfect! I especially loved the combination of Texas Brisket and the sharp cheddar cheese plus the soup shooter was perfect. It was a little chilly outside and the soup was just hot enough to warm my belly. I couldn’t put down The Boss and if we weren’t late to a tour at the museum I would have probably gotten a second one!
Everything about Ruthies was perfect. The location we happened upon it was in full swing and we enjoyed getting to eat it at the park while we watched people play with their children and doggies running around. I’m such a big fan of food trucks and this one did not disappoint. Now to just try the rest of the Zagat trucks to follow– until next time!
If you go, please tell them Dine With Shayda sent you! And let me know what was your favorite thing on the menu @dinewithshayda.
