Nasha serves up Indian comfort food in the heart of Austin
What: Indian restaurant with Tex-Mex influence serving curries mixed with tacos and enchiladas
When: Sunday – Thursday 11am – 12am / Friday 11am – 1am / Saturday 12pm-1am
Where: On East 7th at 1614 E 7th St, Austin, TX 78702
Why: The word Nasha, in hindi, means to crave. And that’s exactly how I feel when I come to Nasha. It’s Indian soul food with a hint of tex-mex.
Located off east 7th you can find traditional Indian dishes and spices used like Tikka Masala, Saag, Vindaloo, and Korma. The curry is blended in-house, and the ingredients are always fresh. You’ll also find their take on tacos, quesadillas, and enchiladas. It’s an accessible menu allowing you to venture as far into each cuisine as you want to.
I love coming here, they’ve got this badass mural on the front of their building. It’s an Indian man blowing a pipe or smoking something magical. On their menu’s they’ve even got a little tagline saying “Get High on Indian Cuisine”. So feel free to draw your own conclusions. But it’s edgy and most of all it’s good. I always come here hungry and leave happy, you can’t ask for more than that!
You can opt to sit inside or outside on the patio. I personally love to sit outside, especially in the cool spring afternoons here in Austin. I’m also obsessed with their dining-ware. It’s galvanized looking metal plates, bowls and cups, and just a little sparkle to the meal. And most of all makes me feel like a queen eating and drinking out of it!
Order the Roasted Chips and Salsa and you’ll get spicy lentil crackers served with mint chutney and homemade salsa. Those lentil crackers are a nice change of tortilla chips, giving it that Indian Tex-mex flare. And give their curries a shot, last time I was in they had Chicken Tikka Masala Enchiladas. Enchiladas stuffed with delicious Indian comfort food- yes please!

Dine With Shayda Tip: You can’t go wrong with the specials on the board, so be sure to check those out before you make your decision. When I went, they had Chicken Tikka Masala enchiladas, just as good as you think it would be!
