Moo Sway to Celebrate Sway Domain Opening

What’s better than one Sway? Two!

That’s right, the long anticipated Sway Thai has opened up their official second location in The Domain’s Rock Rose area. The menu will be overseen by chef de cuisine Stacey Jones and Sway’s corporate executive chef Charles Schlienger.

This place is particularly special for me because Sway is my absolute favorite restaurant. Seriously, it’s the first thing that comes out of my mouth when people ask me for Austin recommendations.  I’ve celebrated my birthday there for as many years as I can remember, and I just find the dishes so comforting and crave-able. It’s something that I look forward to enjoying and having a second location makes doing that easier!

In honor of the opening, Sway invited me to host a special dinner with some of my favorite friends to indulge in the Moo Sway menu. It’s one of the Chef’s Tasting menu’s offered to groups of 10 or more and this particular one features a Thai style Pork shoulder that has to be ordered 48 hours in advance. In addition to the star of the show, they served oysters (which are my favorite in town), as well as dishes like the beef fried rice, and S+P blue prawns. Yum!!!

Also worth noting, the original location recently got their liquor license 🙌 which means they created a delicious Thai inspired specialty cocktail menu which has made its way to this new Sway location too. So definitely grab a cocktail or two (My recs: Monk Water with cilantro and watermelon, and Lotus Margarita with tamarind and Combier)!

If you’ve never been to Sway, everything is served family style, and the seating is pretty open to encourage a similar experience– community! The whole space is designed around the open kitchen, which is true to the original Sway, but this location offers more more more. More seating, more space, a bigger bar area, which lends itself nicely to the hustle and bustle of Rockrose. There’s even a patio space which has aromatic jasmine growing to create what will be a beautiful flowered garden when it’s fully grown. Ah, I’m just in love and so impressed with the space AND this team day in and day out!

This is one of the most exciting openings, in my opinion. And I’m hopeful that with a North location, Sway will be making its way into more people’s hearts and tummies. Help me spread the good news, and go welcome Sway to the neighborhood!

PS: You didn’t ask, but I’m gonna share. This is my go-to menu in case you were curious. I definitely enjoy many things on the menu, but when I’m in the mood for Sway, this is what I want.

S+P calamari, Blue crab fried rice, Son in Law, and a half dozen oysters 😘
