Modern Market Moves to Austin’s Arboretum Area

Who: Modern Market

What: Simple farm fresh ingredients prepared together in a scratch made kitchen to makes healthy dishes.

When: Everyday 8am- 9:30pm

Where: 9828 Great Hills Trail #110, Austin, TX 78759

Why: Salads, sandwiches, soups and pizzas, all made from scratch at this Colorado-based restaurant who recently opened up shop in Austin. Modern Market is focused on fresh, healthy, farm to table food that caters to vegan, celiac, paleo, raw, high carb or low carb diets. I had driven by a few times, which caused me to research them, which led to me being intrigued by their yummy farm to table menu, and then one day after a workout, it just seemed like the appropriate time to give them a visit.

I went with my sister for lunch and immediately we were drawn to the options that Modern Market offers. You can order a half salad with a cup of soup, a full sandwich, half pizza with a half salad, basically everything on the menu can be halved and let you try a few things. Of course, everything on the menu is relatively healthy too, and they post the nutritional information right on the menu, as well as print it out on your receipt! I do not believe in counting calories, but I do believe in being mindful of what you’re intaking. Modern Market really makes it easy to make healthy decisions simply by being aware of what you’re consuming.

My sister always errs on the healthier side, so she went with a half wintergreen salad, which was made with dates, apples, and goat cheese, paired with a cup of their chicken chili soup. I (while I want to eat healthy) went for a half basil chicken sandwich with a cup of basil tomato soup. Everything was hearty, tasty, and the pricing was great because I didn’t feel like I had to break the bank to eat well. They even offer cold brew coffee and seasonal kombucha on tap.

While we went for lunch, they also offer breakfast like scrambles, waffles, and breakfast sandwiches. Which I definitely want to come back and try. Plus, they have a sweet dessert pizza that just looks like it would make the perfect cheat meal!

It was a hip restaurant, with good vibes, lots of great lighting, and lots of great options. I hope when you’re in the arboretum area and in the mood for a healthy meal you’ll give them a visit, and tell them Dine With Shayda sent you!
