Why: In a city like Austin, good food isn’t hard to find. In fact the hard part is trying to fit in all the great places that call this city home. Food trucks are just one of the great components of Austin’s vibrant food scene. They show up at festivals, in parking lots, and at breweries!
Melted is a new food truck that has recently hit the scene. They hop around town so make sure to check their social and website to ensure you don’t miss them. I was fortunate to catch them at Whitestone Brewery as they debuted their menu.
They offer 6 signature grilled cheese sandwiches:
On the side you can get mac and cheese, tomato soup, tater tots, asian crunch salad, and queso mole. And if that doesn’t do it for you, you can always build your own sandwich.
Everything we ordered was delicious. The sandwiches were stuffed generously, grilled perfectly, and cut in a way that when you pulled the cheese apart just made your mouth water. I loved the beer braised pork in the Texas Toast, and the Fried Green Tomatoes in the Farmer’s Market BLT. For our side we went with an order of tater tots with queso mole. And were in melty, cheesy, liquid gold heaven!
Melted doesn’t just make great grilled cheese sandwiches, they also believe in giving back. Founded by Anna Hutto from Tyler, Texas, the food truck was created to inspire change in the lives of others. Anna is passionate about the International Justice Mission, whose mission is to protect the impoverished people of 3rd world countries from violence and injustice, and rescued them from human trafficking.
She launched Melted to be able to create a constant stream of donation to IJM and give 100% of their profits.
