Lucy's Fried Chicken

What: Southern Comfort food, fried chicken, and fresh gulf oysters

Where: Lucy’s has 3 locations, I went to the Lake location at 2900 RR 620 Austin, Texas 78734. There is a location on South Congress at 2218 College Avenue and Burnet Road at 5408 Burnet Road.

Why: The venue alone should encourage you to make the trip to check out Lucy’s on the lake. It’s situated off of 620 in the old Iguana Grill location (for those of you old time Austinites), and is a perfect oasis to bring friends and family alike. This venue has a ton of seating, from inside to outside, from covered to uncovered you’ll be able to bring the whole clan and find something for everyone- even your furry pets (as long as they’re on a leash!)

We honestly stumbled upon this one. It was Fathers day and I had been to Lucy’s before off South Congress, so when we drove by we were curious to check this particular location out. We had our dog Scotty with us and had spent the morning at a brewery in Dripping Springs so we knew we needed something dog friendly (as long as they’re on a leash you’re OK!) and we realized that this Lucy’s is residing in the old Austin restaurant Iguana Grill so we figured the view would be pretty good.

Upon walking in we were all taken aback by the great lake views, after all the rain we’ve been getting lately, the lake is really looking full and we were reminded of the amazing Texas hill country we live in! Since Lucy’s is known for their fried chicken, it didn’t take long for us to agree on a Bucket of Chicken. It comes with 12 pieces of chicken, which was plenty for our family of 5, and we decided to order some sides to come out with the chicken like corn on the cob, mashed potatoes and fried okra. Since my sister and I are big fans of oysters, we went with a half order of their Texan oysters made with house chorizo, garlic butter, house jalapeno salsa, and pumpernickel crumbs. And couldn’t pass up a basket of cornbread with tequila butter!

The whole experience at Lucy’s on the Lake was magical. The chicken was hot, crispy and tasted so fine and to eat it while looking at that lake, well you’ll just have to come visit them to find out for yourself. They’re a great stop for lunch, dinner or brunch and they’d be happy to see you!
