Kawaii Ice is my absolute favorite shaved ice in the whole world! OK, it’s the best one I’ve had so far, and you better believe I’m putting it to the test. I grew up in Austin, eating snow cones all around town, from Snow Beach to Raspas, to Casey’s New Orleans Snow Balls, I have had them all and they were all all-right. Until I discovered a hidden gem north of I-35 in a suburb of Austin called Round Rock.
It sits at the intersection of N. Mays and E. Liberty across the road from the infamous Round Rock Donuts near the iconic Round Rock water tower.
It’s a walk up and drive through CASH ONLY place, and make sure you gauge the line when you drive up because the drive through can take pretty long depending on how hot it is outside (hours range from 11am-7pm depending on season) and don’t forget your cash!
Small for $2.50, Medium for $2.75, Large for $3 and XL for $4.* Usually a small is sufficient but there are days where a medium is in order. I’ve had Banana, Amaretto, Blue Coconut, Tutti Frutti, Watermelon, Bahama Mama and Tiger’s Blood. Of course my favorite combination is Bahama Mama and Tiger’s Blood, you can combine up to 3 flavors.

Their snow is so soft and they pour sweet syrup that has the perfect balance of flavors, not too sweet and not too bland. I have taken many friends and family here and they also swear it is the best snow cone in town. It’s about 19 miles from Downtown Austin but it is definitely worth the trip!
