Frank -hot dogs and cold beer, perfect any afternoon.

I will have to address the Frank full menu at another time, because it is good and it deserves to be shared. However this Hot Dogs Cold Beers joint established in 2009 located at 4th and Colorado in Downtown Austin is the perfect place for an afternoon pick me up. And that is just what I had!

Nestled in the warehouse district it is a quick walk to 6th street, ACL Live and the many offices that are strewn around downtown. For me it is one block away and a convenient and delicious stop when craving hot dogs, milkshakes, breakfast and coffee! They even have a stage inside where they hold shows, because what would an Austin restaurant be without one?

Frank Interior Austin Texas

It’s a long and narrow restaurant offering bar seating, high tops and tables big enough for 10 of your friends and their 10 friends. And the food, the crown and joy, is nothing short of amazing. They are known for their hot dogs with items on the menu like the Southern Boy- a Split, Blackened Vienna Beef dog dressed with caramelized onions, pulled pork, pepper jack cheese and Dr. Doppelganger BBQ sauce. And you can’t go wrong with their Texalina, a custom made smoked pork and beef sausage, dressed with grilled horseradish coleslaw, Carolina mustard BBQ sauce and white cheddar on a Frank Bun.

For my afternoon snack I was craving one of their newly added to the menu milkshakes. Strawberry milkshakes are my favorite, so I couldn’t pass up their Strawberry Pepper Shake. House made with madagascar vanilla bean-raw sugar simple, strawberry preserves, strawberry balsamic reduction and sprinkled with black pepper. The black pepper was subtle enough that the strawberry and balsamic mixture really came to life. Definitely one of the best strawberry milkshakes I’ve had in Austin!

We also couldn’t pass up their larger than life freshly baked Frank pretzels. It is a slow dough Giant pretzel served with Austin beerworks black thunder beer cheese and fire eagle dusseldorf mustart. And as you can tell it was more than enough for our 5 person group to snack on!

One of my favorite things besides the amazing quality of food at Frank is the decor of the restaurant. They have quirky sayings like the “Come and take it” hot dog poster that is adorned above their bar.

I know no matter the reason a trip to Frank has you leaving happy and full of tasty food. It is a must when in the warehouse district and it is the only one in Austin (this far) so grab a seat, grab a dog, and let the cool vibes fill you up.
