Estância Churrascaria -the food and service is captivating.
You will enjoy every second of Estância Churrascaria and I know this because I had the most amazing meal there and from the moment you walk in to the moment you get up to leave the service and the food will captivate you. I can’t emphasize it enough, they really make you feel special.
Estância Churrascaria is a Brazilian Steakhouse located in North Austin near the Arboretum at 10000 Research Boulevard Suite B, Austin, Texas 78759. They are open 365 days a year and offer 14 different meats, an extensive salad bar, served with authentic Brazilian side dishes and desserts. It’s the ultimate steakhouse experience.
Estância is the perfect place to celebrate, so whether it’s a birthday or anniversary you will be wined and dined with excellent service, mouthwatering meats, and sweet desserts. It just so happened to be my birthday a few days ago and since I love a good steak, we decided to go to Estância to celebrate just that.
When we first sat down we were invited to make a plate of items from the salad bar. Food like hearts of palm, shiitake mushrooms, and roasted peppers are neatly laid out for you to adorn your salad with. And there are cuts of pastrami and cheeses that will make your heart sing, but my piece of advice to you. Come hungry and eat a lite salad, you will want to try every piece of meat they have to offer.
The dining floor is dimly lit and intimate, there’s a lot of hustle happening on the floor since the Gauchos are walking around with the different types of meat almost consistently throughout the meal. My first time to a Brazilian Steakhouse was a little overwhelming, but if you go to a place like Estância I guarantee they’re going to make you feel at ease.
You will see different cuts and types of meat being presented, and remember to have that green side of your card flipped so they will stop and serve you. But be forgetful and neglect to turn your card to red, you will be seeing a lot of Gaucho’s come stop by your table. Those color cards are their signal for how to interact with your table. There are a few managers on the floor and waitstaff to assist you, should you miss a cut or type of meat, they’ll be available to help get you whatever it is that you’re craving.
One of the things I enjoyed most about Estância was the Brazilian style aesthetic that we were experiencing. For the side dishes they brought out fresh cheesey bread, black beans, white rice, mashed potatoes, grilled bananas, and some sauces for the meat like a mint jelly which was recommended for the lamb and their own steak chimichurri sauce. As you can tell it was flavor overload in the best way possible! Everything was perfect, everything was delicious, I feel like I could go on and on about this meal, because I could it was as good as I said it was.
And before I forget to mention it they offer mixed cocktails and they are strong! We had Brazilian esque mexican martinis made with fresh muddled fruit and berries. A little bit of drinking a little bit of snacking and all in preparation for what was about to happen next.
Let the show begin!
I don’t know if you’re familiar with a Brazilian steakhouse but it involves a lot of meat. The story goes that a lot of these Gaucho’s working at Estância are from South America or Mexico where these are men and women who are known for their craft in preparing and presenting these cuts of meat. I thought it was so cool that the people who are walking around presenting the meats to you are the same guys and gals who marinated it and prepared it for us to eat.
Once you turn that red card over to green it is game on, and different cuts and types of meat are brought out. In no particular order, these are the 14 options available to you: Picanha, Picanha with Garlic, Filet Mignon, Filet Mignon wrapped in Bacon, Alcatra, Fraldinha, Costela, Cordeiro, Cordeiro Chops, Lombo de Porco, Linguica, Frango, and Costela de Porco.
Brazilian Steakhouses started way back when the cattlemen used to stop at Estância’s which means cattle house or ranch in South America. These cattlemen would go house to house on their journey and grill up some meat as they shared stories, relaxed and had a bite to eat and drink. The practice became so respected that Brazilian Steakhouses are some of the most well known and trusted steak houses in the world. There is a sense of family, unity and pride for their craft.
Estância Churrascaria lives up to its name, it’s some of the best meat I’ve ever experienced and in an environment that just beckons for you to stay a while.
After dinner they bring out something quite special. The glass you see in the middle is made of the same stuff as is in the smaller glass on the right. The difference, the glass in the middle was lit aflame to let the alcohol burn to give it this toasted marshmallow flavor. One it looks awesome and I would share a picture if they didn’t all turn out really poorly lit, but the flavor was like no other. It was sweet, warm, and melted in my mouth. The drink on the left, is a limoncello, and the fruit blocks of ice were just for decoration, but boy did it look beautiful.
Last and certainly not least was dessert, we are big fans of creme brûlée so we couldn’t pass up an opportunity to have it at Estância. My most favorite thing about creme brûlée is the cracking of the shell, luckily my boyfriend knows better than to take that job away from me. And within a few cracks the whole thing was gone! Some other desserts we didn’t try but wanted to were the Flan and Key Lime pie. Maybe you’ll get those next time you go and let me know what you think.
And because I’m me, you can obviously see that I asked if some of the Gaucho’s would stand together for a picture to show off their beautiful cuts of meat 🙂
It is just such a beautiful art, to cook meat and then to present it in such a unique way for the dinner guests. It really is an experience that everyone should go check out once in their life. And when you do, tell the Dine With Shayda sent you.
