Why: Sometimes the best things in life are hidden gems. El Taquito from the outside might strike you as just another Mexican restaurant. But once inside it’s easy why patrons have been coming here for years– the food is good and the drinks are strong. Oh and they’re open till 4am on the weekends!

It’s a very intimate restaurant, you can peer right into the kitchen as they prep your meal cutting fresh pieces of avocado to put on top of your tacos. They’ve got housemade Agua Fresca’s made in delicious flavors like lime and watermelon, just sitting right on the counter to entice you, and a nice menu full of margaritas, horchatas, and not to mention tacos, to fill your belly up.

Everything on the menu looked good it was hard to settle on just one thing. So we started with some margaritas rimmed with their signature chile salt. I love a good salted rim to balance the sweetness of the margarita and this one really elevated the drink and gave each sip a nice heat to it.

From the queso fundido that to the housemade guacamole El Taquito makes authentic food with fresh flavors. We finished the meal with some of their signature street style tacos made with grilled meat, cilantro and topped with fresh chopped onions.

Order it and go take a seat on the patio, it’s an oasis from the Texas heat and is the perfect setting for this Mexican meal.

Honestly, I could go for one of those tacos now, a margarita too, and that patio is looking pretty enticing. See you there!
