El Chile -fresh homestyle tex mex with vibrant flavors.
We came to El Chile on the recommendation from a friend and had heard they had a nice patio. The weather was gorgeous and we were craving tex mex so we headed on over to this East Austin dive and were not disappointed.
El Chile is serving up fresh tex mex realness. With vibrant flavors, homestyle cooking, you know that you’re going to get a meal made from the heart when you eat at El Chile.
The Patio was perfection, we had nice shade but were graced with the wind blowing through the open air windows.
We came for brunch so we were eating off their brunch menu. El Chile features tex mex favorites and some of off the beaten path items like the barbacoa con huevos, made with braised short-rib barbacoa with two farm eggs, guacamole and pico de gallo.
Of course we had to start brunch off with margaritas featuring their chilango margarita made with El Chile rim and mango. They brought out chips and their famous salsa and we were enjoying out time waiting for the food.
Their dark exotic salsa has won them first place in the Austin Chronicle’s Hot Sauce Contest.
We ended up ordering their migas made with two farm eggs scrambled with crispy-corn tortilla strips, tomatoes, onions and serranos. Topped with melted Chihuahua cheese and served with potatoes and black beans. We swapped the potatoes and black beans for refried beans and rice.
We also ordered the crab suiza omelette, made with a three egg omelette stuffed with crab salpicon and jack cheese with a creamy tomatillo sauce, sliced avocado and cilantro.
