Dolce Neve – Austin, Texas

Dolce Neve is a gelato shop serving up authentic Italian gelato. The gelateria features coffee and expresso, homemade gelato, custom cakes and ice cream sandwiches. The quaint shop is located off of South First Street and Annie Street. Located right across the street from the infamous “Greetings from Austin” sign. Perfect for an afternoon stop after snapping your photo in front of the Austin icon.

The shop is operated by three family members who moved to Austin with the hopes of opening up a gelato shop. And in Jan 2015 that dream became a reality when they moved into the store front off of S. First street.

The shop is small with room for about 15 inside, but it doesn’t matter because they offer a sweet outside space where you can sit on a cool spring night and watch passersby drift down South First.

All the flavors are handmade in the store, in a uniquely Italian gelato maker. They offer flavors like Marscapone & Figs, Hazelnut to Chocolate & Sea Salt. At Dolce Neve they choose quality over quantity. And while most gelato shops offer more than 50 flavors a day, they only offer 18 flavors that are handcrafted daily as they need them. You’ll not only find the classic flavors you’d expect, but also an exciting range of new tastes according to the season and their creativity.

You can mix up to two flavors so don’t be shy and mix and match to make your perfect scoop. They also let you try as many flavors as you want, so you can sample to make sure your concoction is what you want it to be.

My flavor combination of choice are Vanilla and Hazelnut. I enjoy the sweet simplicity of the vanilla balanced with the punchy flavor of hazelnut. You can tell the flavors are very natural which makes the sweet treat that much more delicious.
