Who doesn’t love a good reason to put on a fancy outfit and go to brunch? I for sure jump at any opportunity to go wine and dine with my best gal pals, and one Sunday I did just that. Flemings invited me out to try their new Sonoma Sunday brunch and I brought my sister along for a brunch treat to their Domain location.
Sonoma Sunday is offered every Sunday at Flemings Prime Steakhouse, from 11am-3pm. It’s the perfect place for a romantic date, or for a fancy Sunday brunch. Because it’s a steakhouse, this isn’t your typical Sunday brunch. Plan to dress accordingly, but you will be rewarded with a meal rich in flavor.
The menu is inspired by the peace and tranquility of the Californian Vineyards. We started the meal with the most delicious fresh seasonal berries with a chantilly cream and a carafe of their signature passion fruit mimosas. Because we wanted to try everything on the menu, we agreed to order three entrees and split the third. My sister ordered the Porcini-Crusted Filet Mignon, since it wouldn’t be a Flemings Sonoma Brunch without some steak. The mushrooms were ground into a fine powder and crusted onto the steak to give it a nice crisp bite.
I couldn’t pass up ordering the Filet Mignon Eggs Benedict, for one I am a plain Eggs Benedict fan, but when you serve sliced filet mignon on a crisp potato cake, with wilted arugula, and covered in a béarnaise sauce. It doesn’t get much better than that. The flavor, the texture, it melted in my mouth and it was so complimentary to each other. This item in and of itself is reason enough to plan a trip to Flemings Sonoma Brunch. And because we just had to know how their pancakes tasted, we ordered a stack of the lemon-ricotta pancakes topped with a maple blueberry syrup. There were fresh blueberries on top, the ricotta cut through the sweetness of the blueberry and it was a very comforting stack of pancakes.
This was a decadent brunch, but worth every penny and every bite. It was savory, scrumptious, and at times I really did feel like I wanted to order it all again from the top because it was so good.
If these pictures do any of these dishes justice, you will make a reservation for Sonoma Brunch next Sunday, you will not be disappointed. And when you go, tell them Dine With Shayda sent you. Be sure to follow me on Instagram at @DineWithShayda for my daily food adventures!
