Why: Culinary Dropout is going to be your new favorite place to hangout. Whether you want to visit them for brunch, dinner, or happy hour, there is something on the menu for you at Culinary Dropout!
Culinary Dropout recently opened in Austin under Fox Restaurant Concepts who also own the equally delicious Flower Child right next door. The restaurant group is based in Phoenix and has expanded these concepts to Austin’s Domain Northside.
At Culinary Dropout the staff is an extension of your closest friend group, they walk around in hip clothes and saddle up next to you to offer suggestions and compliments. It would be weird if everyone wasn’t so absolutely fabulous, but they just want to get to know you and make sure you’re having a good time. They really go the extra mile when it comes to customer service.
Whether you want to sit inside or outside the vibes are good. You can choose to sit inside near the live band jamming, or in a booth that overlooks the giant windows into the kitchen. The bar is 360 degrees and is open to the inside and the extended outside covered patio, where you’ll find a cornhole yard, patio lounge furniture, and tableside seating perfect for your brunching experience.
We went for brunch and had the time of our lives. We indulged in the antipasti board full of yummy meats like jamón ibérico and prosciutto di san daniele. Pair that with some of their soft pretzel and provolone fondu and you’ll be just getting started!
You can’t pass up a cocktail at Culinary Dropout, and I would know, I’ve tried all of them (almost!). My favorites so far are The Room Service, if you’re wanting a nice brunchy drink made with bubbles and strawberries. If you’re feeling spicy, you could order the Capital Green made with white tequila, cilantro & mint verdita, pineapple, and sparkling wine. I mean, tequila, for breakfast, yes!
For the main courses we had to absolutely order the Cap’n Crunch French Toast which was amazing, we also had the Kentucky Hot Brown, made with turkey pastrami, smoked ham, heirloom tomato, texas toast, and a mornay sauce. And a M.A.C. burger for good measure, and we added an egg on top, because, yolk. We just had to.
Please run, don’t walk, to Culinary Dropout! I’m in love with their outside patio, it is the hottest place to hang in North Austin, and you won’t be disappointed!
What to order: Cap’n Crunch French Toast. It’s made with cereal milk cream on top, yall! And if you’re feeling extra hungry, an order of their fried chicken won’t go to waste in your belly either.
