Blue Corn Harvest -sweet southern charm in Cedar Park.
Blue Corn Harvest buys seasonal fruits and vegetables from the Cedar Park and Wolf Ranch (Georgetown) Farmer’s Markets, and all their meats come from Texas Meat Purveyors. And their signature Blue Corn Tortillas are supplied by Fiesta Tortillas, a local tortilla factory. Another great thing about Blue Corn Harvest is their daily specials.
Cedar Park is a growing city Northwest of Austin with just shy of 70,000 residents. I happened to have graduated from High School in Cedar Park and back then there wasn’t a lot to do in this Austin suburb. In fact, I remember when unpaved roads became major intersections, and when country land became shopping malls and restaurants. This suburb is growing up and it’s exciting to see what’s next in store. New restaurants are popping up all the time, and they’re good restaurants with unique flares. They are thoughtful and bring a little bit of the eclectic Austin food scene to Cedar Park. One of those popular restaurants is Blue Corn Harvest, a Southwestern style eatery that has an emphasis on supporting local whenever they can.
I was out shopping in the area on Saturday with my mom and we decided to pop in here to check them out for Brunch. We’ve been for other meals before and have really enjoyed their tacos and enchiladas.
This time I ordered a brunch only menu item called Green Pork and Eggs, featuring hatch pepper, tomatillo, cilantro and garlic roasted pork with black beans and farm fresh potatoes. It was enough to make two tacos, and of course it was topped with a fried egg. It had a nice heat to it, and the jalapeños on top with the egg just made every bite hit the spot.
It should also be mentioned that there was no wait, but the place was packed. That to me was a great sign because I enjoyed getting to be seated right away and saw happy people coming in and out so we knew we were in for a good brunch. Everyone was super friendly and knowledgable from the hostess to our waitress, it’s that sweet southern charm you often find in the suburbs of Texas.
Seeing as they have an amazing schedule of specials, we’ll have to be sure to come back for happy hour or live music on their big beautiful wood porch out front.
